This project involves the sensitive alteration and addition to a 1930s dwelling within the Smith’s Paddock Environs Precinct. Retaining the original red-blue brick façade, terracotta roof, and front chimney, the design seamlessly integrates contemporary elements while respecting the area’s Victorian, Federation, and interwar character.
A subtle upper-level addition, set back to minimize streetscape impact, enhances livability while complying with heritage guidelines. The project prioritizes softscaping, maintaining 32% garden coverage, and improves backyard functionality with safer, more practical outdoor space. This development ensures longevity while honoring the historical fabric of Burwood Road
